Mission

The American Headache and Migraine Association (AHMA), the patient arm of the American Headache Society (AHS), is a Headache and Migraine Organization for Patient Empowerment (HOPE).

Our vision is to be a community that creates lasting change in headache disorders.

Our mission is to advance awareness and education about headache disorders, provide resources for those affected, and support research efforts for effective treatments.

Our objectives are to:

  • Serve as a collective voice for those affected by headache disorders.
  • Improve the lives of those affected by headache disorders by providing resources and support.
  • Empower those living with headache disorders to achieve their full potential within and beyond their headache disorder(s).
  • Advance awareness and education about headache disorders.
  • Reduce the personal and national burden of headache disorders.
  • Collaborate with patients, care partners, health care providers, researchers, policy makers, employers and the public on issues related to headache disorders.

Why join AHMA?

It's time for necessary research...

Have you ever wondered why other diseases such as breast cancer, ALS, MS, and others have gotten so much attention and NIH research funding? One of the biggest reasons is that the NIH and other agencies pay more attention to diseases and conditions when the patients themselves do two things:

  1. Raise research funds themselves.
  2. Organize and get involved in public awareness campaigns, speaking with Congress, and keeping their disease/condition visible.

We can no longer sit back and wait for government to fund critically needed basic Migraine research. Please donate!
